Retired Pan Am Captain Sumner Hushing's blog of various pseudo-random thoughts, created by his son. I'm sorry I never got Dad very excited about posting here. He had a lot of ideas to share, but we never really got going on capturing them.

Talking dog
Thomas Edison is the only person I've ever heard of, who made his dog actually talk (it said, "How are you, Grandmother?"). And to do that, he had to hold the dog's mouth, so it could make the right sounds.
A quick web search indicates that Alexander Graham Bell taught his dog to growl steadily while he manipulated the dog’s mouth and throat. As he did this, the dog seemed to say, ” Ow ah oo, ga?ma?ma”, meaning, “How are you grandmother?”
